Walking a small dog is one of life's simple pleasures — but having the right accessories makes every outing safer, more comfortable, and a whole lot more stylish. Here are the best walking accessories every small dog owner should have.
1. A Well-Fitted Harness
For small breeds, a harness is far superior to a collar for walks. It distributes pressure evenly, prevents neck strain, and gives you better control. Look for one with padded straps and reflective stitching. Shop our Pet Harness Collection for small breed options.
2. A Sturdy Leash
A 4–6 foot leash in a durable material like nylon or leather is ideal. Avoid retractable leashes for training — they teach dogs to pull and offer less control in busy areas. Check out our Pet Collars & Leashes for stylish options.
3. A Reflective or LED Collar
Even if you use a harness for walks, your dog should wear a collar with ID tags. A reflective collar adds an extra layer of safety for early morning or evening walks.
4. A Paw Cleaner
A portable paw cleaner is a game-changer for post-walk cleanup. Simply insert the paw, twist, and dry — no mess, no fuss. Perfect for small dogs who love to explore muddy paths.
5. A Dog Waste Bag Dispenser
A compact dispenser that clips to your leash means you're always prepared. Look for biodegradable bags for an eco-friendly option.
6. A Collapsible Water Bowl
Small dogs can overheat quickly, especially in summer. A lightweight, collapsible silicone bowl lets you offer water anywhere on your walk.
7. A Stylish Dog Outfit
For cooler days, a lightweight dog dress or sweater keeps small breeds warm without restricting movement. Browse our Dog Dresses Collection for walk-ready styles.
8. A Dog Treat Pouch
A small treat pouch clipped to your waist makes training on walks easy and rewarding. Positive reinforcement during walks builds great leash manners.
